For every parent, your child or children are precious to you. You always want what is best for them, and you want to protect them and keep them safe. As much as possible you take measures in order for them not to get sick or and find ways to keep them from harm. Yet, as much as we would like to be their “protector” from all things, we all know that we simply can not do that all the time. Eczema Home Remedies
Sicknesses, allergies, and accidents still find a way into your children’s lives, and it is important that you take action to be ready for whatever may come their way. Eczema in children is one of most common problems today. It is sad to say that since it is usually genetic, there is nothing we can do to keep it from happening.
Allow me to give you a brief background of what eczema is. Eczema is a skin condition where the skin becomes inflamed and turns red. It gets dry and very itchy, and bumps with pus can start appearing on the skin. Eczema is usually found amongst children and can usually last through teen years, and at times even through out adulthood. Although, eczema is found to be genetic, allergic reactions are usually what trigger’s it to flare up.
So if your child has eczema, try to find out what they may be allergic too. They could be allergic to pollen, mold, dust, harsh soap or detergent, skin care products such as cologne or perfume, animal dander, certain clothes fabrics such as wool or coarsely woven materials. Winter season can also cause it to come out because it can get so dry and if your child is not moisturized well, then reactions can occur.
Other factors are the kinds of food they may eat, although this of course varies from person to person. However, it has been observed that acidic food, tomatoes, and even certain dairy products can trigger it. Too much heat and sweating can also be a cause, and of course emotional stress can take its toll as well in allowing eczema to flare up in your child.
So as a parent, once you are aware of these factors that may cause the eczema to come out you can take action by keeping your children from these things as much as possible. Pollen, mold, and dust would be harder to control; however, the other causes are some things that we can control.
Since eczema is itchy, it would be automatic for your child to scratch. But since scratching makes things worse, you can help by keeping their nails short. Pat the inflamed area with a cool cloth from time to time and keep their skin moisturized with petroleum jelly. At night, you can allow them to wear a light comfortable glove to prevent them from scratching directly with their hands.
Finally, always boost them up emotionally. Eczema will not only take its toll on them physically, but it will most likely affect them emotionally as well. So be sure to always shower them with encouragement, love and affection. Always remind them to feel confident and good about themselves no matter what, because this will help lessen their stress and allow them to feel good about who they are as a person!
